Due to my busy weekend and feeling really blah yesterday I hadn’t been keeping up with the 30 Day Meme Challenge :displeased: So I cheated and posted the last three days a little late. I’m going to definitely work hard to keep up from here on out. My time was just really invested in getting everything ready to go for Keight’s 23rd Birthday! I think all my hard work was a success, though! I ordered her some notebooks from Celestefrittata Bottega as part of her present but I wasn’t sure they’d arrive in time, but they arrived Saturday afternoon just in time for her party.
I also worked with her Mom to give her a Harry Potter birthday celebration. Complete with Gryffindor colored decorations (streamers, plates, napkins and even a print out of the crest on the table). Sarah did a wonderful job setting up the table which I then added to with some Honeydukes treats that I made and got all packaged up to look somewhat authentic. We even had the Goblet of Fire soundtrack blaring as we led her into the dining room with her eyes closed.
I also made her a Luck Bracelet, of course Harry Potter style complete with a Felix Felicis potion charm. After she opened her presents, we ate dinner, and had some birthday cake (pumpkin cheesecake for the birthday girl), we had some time to kill so we made our very own Acid Pops. Then we hopped on the boat and watched an amazing display of fireworks for Bay Days (local annual celebration we have in our city). When we got back, we ended the party with some warm butterbeer that her Mom made and it was delicious. Keight was really pleased with all the hard work we all put in for her birthday and I’m glad. She deserved it because she’s had a rough year and a less than wonderful birthday the last couple years!
I’m not one of those girls who has always dreamt of the “perfect” wedding. In fact, the idea of planning a big blowout wedding just exhausts me thinking about it. I want something simple. Maybe just my immediate family and closest friends on a beach somewhere. I definitely would prefer somewhere outside in the Fall or Early Spring. I wouldn’t even be opposed to eloping in Vegas. I just don’t like stressing over things like that. Yes, I want it to be meaningful but I don’t want to make a show of it. I don’t want bridal showers or any of that traditional stuff, just me, my man and our vows!
