Progress, Shopping & Crazy Doctors

Okay first I have a random confession. Ever notice how my subject lines have a similar motif? Yeah, I often type a shorthand list of things I want to talk about in my blog. I do it so that if when I get distracted, I’ll remember what I had planned to post about. I fail.

So first up! I had a really spectacular day! Which is surprising considering I woke up in a total grumpy mood. Why yes, someone apparently did pee in my cornflakes. Actually, I just stayed up far too late last night and that usually is the main cause for me ever being less than my usual happy self. Fortunately, as the day went on I woke up and cheered up! It also was a big boost when my Step-Mom said I looked great (referring to my weight lost) and then my Dad (who is the least observant person I know) actually noticed I lost weight. He saw me eating yogurt and was like.. “Yogurt is good isn’t it? Good for you too! Low in fat, right?” I answered by reading him how many calories, total fat and fiber was in my yogurt and he replied saying “You’ve lost some weight, haven’t you?” Then I told him I have lost 30 pounds (well, actually 29.5) and he was like “WOW! I wish I could!” I was about to tell him that he could if he joined Weight Watchers but then he mentioned he needed to clean out his garage so he could use his exercise equipment (something he’s been saying for at least 15 years). Perhaps another time I’ll sell him on Weight Watchers.

So these new changes in my life have me excited for the future and as mentioned in my last post, all into the girly stuff. I have this insane urge to go shopping. Which works out because Dad invited me to go along with the family to ride the Ferry and go to the Prime Outlets in Williamsburg. I haven’t been there since I was 12 and A LOT has changed since then. I’m so excited. I’m going to shop til I drop. Really, probably window shop or dream shop. Because I will be seeing all these amazing clothes and things that I’m so looking forward to wearing someday in the future! Speaking of.. my sister, Sarah, was wearing this new shirt today which is ABSOLUTELY adorable. If it was something I’d be comfortable wearing right now, I totally would buy it myself. It just further excites me for the future and motivates me to work even harder! As such, I actually worked out tonight. I don’t usually work out at night, but I think I’m going to try making time for it. Allow myself more time to sleep instead of working out in the morning!

And finally, I’ve been wanting to post about this next topic for a while but by the time I type up a blog, I’ve been forgetting to mention it. Some of you may or may not know, but last year my Mom went to the doctor and they told her she had high blood pressure and high cholesterol so they ran some tests and they found that my Mom’s heart showed signs of having a mild heart attack at some point. She never even realized. Pretty scary stuff! Anyway, so since then she’s been trying several different prescriptions for her blood pressure and cholesterol. All of which have had really weird side effects so she had to stop taking them. In this process they did some blood work and my Mom’s psycho doctor decided to inform her that her blood sugar levels were off. So she schedules a test to check for diabetes and has now told my Mom she has diabetes. My Mom has a few friends that are diabetic and she told them what her blood sugar levels were and they told her that her levels were NORMAL. Since then she’s done a lot of research and even bought herself a tester and yeah, her levels are NORMAL. In fact they aren’t BAD, they aren’t GOOD.. they’re EXCELLENT. I swear the incompetence of doctors these days is outright scary. It’s like they’re just trying to diagnose us with all these problems to keep us coming back and keep the drug companies afloat.

People wonder why so many celebs these days have accidental prescription drug overdoses? These doctors are out of control! They prescribe you drugs which cause several other problems and then they prescribe drugs for those too! It’s a never-ending cycle! I’m so glad I choose the Homeopathic route. Doctors can sit and spin. I’m living until I’m 100. You watch. No prescription medicine for me!
